A big part of our Community are the Filipino university societies that we collaborate with - in fact FiliFest events are primarily organised by students!
Freshers with FiliFest is a digital event dedicated to students. It’s our way of starting the academic year to encourage collaboration between Filipino societies, and for freshers (upcoming students) to have a peak of what to expect in different aspects of their uni life.
Thank you to the 17 Filipino societies who participated in our first Freshers with FiliFest event!
FiliFest’s OPM Competition is a digital event open to everyone in our Community (including our international audience!) to showcase their singing prowess.
Karaoke is a big part of the Filipino culture so for November 2020, we celebrated Filipinos’ love for singing. In collaboration with ABS-CBN’s TFC, we invited our participants and Community members to try out Kumu, a popular Filipino live-streaming app.
Our OPM Competition Winner received a £200 cash prize and the TFC’s Choice Winner (based on acquired diamonds on Kumu) received a £50 cash prize courtesy of our sponsor, TFC.
Thank you to everyone who sent submissions for our event. Our Community truly is amazing!
Sometimes we need a reminder of all the incredible things we’ve done so far. FiliFest Awards is a digital celebration of YOU.
For this year, our pilot event focused more on all the great events Filipino societies in the UK have worked on throughout the year.
Thank you to all of the Filipino societies who joined our online celebration and to our sponsors: Lunes Shop, Beloved’s Cucina, Romulo Café, Spilt Milk, Sweet Home Essence, The Adobros and C Bakery.
Check out the winners of our first FiliFest Awards!
With the uncertainty of COVID-19 at the start of this year, FiliFest took a cautious stance by choosing to not hold our festival for another year. However, with the lifting of lockdown in the summer, we thought this was the perfect chance for us to introduce the FiliFest Challenge - a gamified tour around London.
We invited some Community members to play with us for the day. 3 teams explored London, visiting Filipino hotspots like Jollibee, Romulo Café and Kapihan, and playing games such as Filipino tongue twisters and chicharon chubby bunny. Thank you to our participating teams: University of Greenwich Filipino Society, 22 Chismis and FilBrit.ish.
Let us know your thoughts on our pilot event of the FiliFest Challenge and if you’d also like to take part next time!
